Maybe Dermot mistook your signature for a response to his post?...

Strange beastie I made one day. Apologies for my terrible handwriting!

    dragons.

I'm similar to Siagonnus in that my dragons are also more feasible, although they do stretch the limits of what's realistic. They don't breathe fire, instead spraying a type of venom so hard, that the particles heat up and sizzle, creating a 'fire-like' effect. Some species don't spit anything...

How do you build your fantasy world?

I mostly plaster together things that I find interesting (monsters, exploring how cultures and organisms may develop...), and try and think of a way all the aspects that I like can be part of a coherent, satisfying setting.

    Do you use Speculative Evolution?

Yes, that's why I said that the Bee Movie based it on other myths.

    Do you use Speculative Evolution?

It does believe that bees can fly. The quote is something that the Bee Movie based of off myths, I think. I think, in some ways, guessing how things can 'really' act like, is fun. It certainly feels that way to me at times.

    Do you use Speculative Evolution?

This part was always challenging for me to implement in a satisfying way, so I tried to put more focus on non-winged dragons and the species that are winged, living in mountain regions, and gliding more than having actual sustained flight.

    Do you use Speculative Evolution?

Yes, this is what I meant. In hindsight, I should've specified this. Your world does sound quite interesting, though.

    Do you use Speculative Evolution?

I hope this is the right place for this question. Do you tend to use speculative evolution a lot in your worlds? While I am not against explaining away why things act they way they do beacasue of magic, it gives me some satisfaction to have a plausible, if not accurate reasoning behind it. As an...

Would it bother you if a protagonist in a fantasy often thought deeply?

I think thinking should be random, since when people think, our train of thought is not always uniform and we jump to different thoughts quickly. This might be hard to translate well into writing. From what I remember of it, I feel like The Gunslinger by Stephen King did a good job in...

Worldbuilding elves being ascedents of faeries

I don't think I can offer an answer, but what caused the trauma? You mention that elves and fairies have different magic techniques, but not really why that should be threat to elves. I hope you are able to find a solution.

    Hello!

Hi, all. I am not by any means accomplished at writing or world building in general since I have started out relatively recently, but I intend to flesh things out more and discuss them here; I am open to any questions, although I may not 'know' some answers since I might not have done anything...
