Leap Year Day - Take a writer out to dinner?

Ahoy crew,

I just found the following text posted by Neil Gaimin an his facebook page (Neil Gaiman)

Please celebrate Leap Year Day in the traditional manner by taking a writer out for dinner.
It’s been four years since many authors had a good dinner. We are waiting. Many of us have our forks or chopsticks at the ready - some of us have had them ready for days. We will repay you by drifting off while the food is being served and then suddenly scribbling something down on a scrap of paper and asking whether or not you think “passionate” could validly be said to rhyme with “cash in it”, then absent-mindedly drinking too much and trying to recite the whole of Clive James’s “The Book of My Enemy Has Been Remaindered” from memory.
Feed us.

I wouldn't mind anyone taking me out to dinner, but this isn't something I've ever hear of before. It could be because I was very new to writing last time there was a leap year though, so I might very well have missed it.

I don't have anyone to take me out to dinner today, but I'll take myself out for pizza and a few pints tomorrow evening to celebrate the beginning of the weekend on planet Svrt

Though not a Gaiman fan, I like a lot of what he says in interviews and other places not between the covers of a book.

If I had known of this earlier, I just may have been able to guilt someone into something like this (!) I'm not an eleventh hour kind of guy.

Thanks for sharing, Svrt--

I'm the one making dinner for the family here at Chez Ireth, so basically I'm doing the inverse of this. XD I do have a coupon for a free sandwich at a restaurant in town, so I might take myself out for lunch one of these days.
