Scary Situation

At this moment, helicopters are swarming overhead and police with high-powered rifles are stationed at the parking garages around LAX.

Granted, it appears that the situation had been resolved (a shooting reportedly in Terminal 3) by the time I heard about it. The first report I heard was that there was a guy with a rifle on top of one of the terminals. Now, it sounds like it was a guy inside a terminal and absolutely no threat to where my office is.

Just kinda weird.

Just got an email asking us to remain in our offices, and there are rumors that a gunman is still at large.

My first guess is that there probably isn't anyone still at large. Police tend to act out of an abundance of caution in these situations.

That caution comes from experience. Listen to them.

Shooters often act in tandem.

Seems like a lone gunman, though, and latest reports are that they shot him at the time he opened fire and that he is now in custody.

News report on radio just said 2 people arrested, 4 shot including at least one gun man. These stories have a way of changing rapidly though so who knows?

"Someone opened fire with firearm after getting past security."
What I think happened:
Someone with firearm shot TSA agent and went into secure area. If he even got into the secure area.

A lot of that is because the various 24-hour news channels (love 'em or hate 'em) are always trying to get the scoop first, and so often report inaccurate information, which then has to be corrected later.
